Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology alumnus Kelly Black has been appointed associate professor of mathematics and computer science at Clarkson University in New York after being an educator at North Carolina State University, the University of New Hampshire and Union College.
Black, earned degrees in mathematics and computer science from Rose-Hulman in 1987, specializes in the analysis and implementation of numerical techniques in scientific computing, and the implementation and analysis of spectral methods with experience in multi-domain techniques. He is the author or co-author of almost two dozen professional articles and has made numerous presentations at conferences and colloquia. He also is a member of the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
After leaving Rose-Hulman, Black earned a master of science degree and Ph.D. in numerical analysis at Brown University.
Clarkson, a nationally recognized research university for undergraduates, is located just outside the Adirondack Park in Potsdam, N.Y.
